Manor Historical House

The Winton Manor House, which is on the national register of historical buildings, was built in 1769 before the Revolutionary War. Sarah Winston Syme Henry, the mother of Patrick Henry, lived at Winton from 1779 to 1784, when she moved there with her daughter, Jane, wife of Samuel Meredith.  She is buried with several other family members in a brick wall enclosed cemetery on the Winton golf course. Rumour has it that Patrick Henry visited during the American Revolution and was hidden from the enemy in a pile of hay.

Winton Manor House became the home for the Winton Country Club in 1968.

A new breath of life has come to the magnificent Winton Manor House. This registered historical house with the beautiful grounds is an amazing location for special occasions such as wedding receptions, bridal showers, family reunions, as well as for corporate meetings, retreats and training.

Brittiany Mossy who was married on the Winton property last year gives a personal testimony: “When it came to deciding where I would hold my wedding, there was no question about it. I spent every summer since I was 7 years old at Winton. It’s where I learned to dive, forged lasting friendships and spent Fourth of July and birthdays with my family.  These memories, coupled with the gorgeous green landscapes and beautiful Blue Ridge mountain background made my wedding day perfect. ”  Winton Manor House is opening it doors and is now set for becoming an important venue for the local and regional special events.
