Surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, Winton is nestled both physically and historically in central Virginia. The recorded history of the property dates back to a land grant in the early 1700s. Notably, Patrick Henry’s mother, Her legacy is preserved in her former home, the Sarah Henry Manor, which now hosts public and member events throughout the year and is on the list of National Historical Places..
Designed by Ed Ault and opened for play in 1970, the 18-hole golf course features large Bent and Poa Annua grass greens and Bermuda grass fairways and is rated 71.2 with a slope rating of 123. Five sets of tees range in length from 5300 yards to more than 6800 yards, making it an enjoyable course for all skill levels.
Home to the Patriots Swim Team, the Winton Swimming Pool is enjoyed from Memorial Day to Independence Day. With night swim and a variety of events scattered throughout the season, the pool is the perfect, family-friendly way to spend a summer.
The on-site restaurant, The Tavern @ Winton, serves up everything from garden salads and grilled chicken sandwiches to burgers and hot dogs. With a patio overlooking the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains, the Tavern is a member favorite for relaxing with friends and family.
With a tree-lined driveway leading to a picturesque white, two-story Georgian-style home, Sarah Henry Manor is the perfect host of any event, no matter how large or small. The manor still holds many artifacts from Sarah Henry, all of which are complemented by the well-preserved architectural detail of the home.
